Cryptocurrency lawyers
A crypto lawyer structures a crypto business and its deals so that banks, exchanges and counterparties accept them, and protects the client when something goes wrong. Ukraine adopted the Law “On Virtual Assets”, but as of September 2026 it has not entered into force, so we work through the rules that apply today: civil law, AML/financial monitoring, tax and, for the EU, the MiCA regulation. We work remotely with companies, start-ups, traders and investors in Ukraine and abroad.
Describe your task to a lawyer →
Typical situations clients bring to us
Launching a crypto project or token
We choose the jurisdiction and structure, prepare project documents, terms of use, KYC/AML policies and review the white paper.
Token listing on an exchange
We prepare the legal package exchanges request at listing: token description, corporate documents, answers to the compliance questionnaire.
A USDT or other crypto deal
A purchase or exchange agreement, risk allocation, counterparty KYC and source-of-funds documents for the bank.
A frozen bank or exchange account
Funds are blocked after crypto transactions. We gather proof of the source of funds and handle correspondence with compliance.
Crypto debt or fraud
A counterparty has not returned crypto. We secure evidence and prepare a claim, a lawsuit or a report to law enforcement.
Licensing and structure in the EU or UAE
For exchange, custody or transfer services we compare jurisdictions and requirements, including MiCA.
What we do
- Analyse your business model or deal and state which rules apply now in Ukraine and abroad.
- Propose a structure: company jurisdiction, role of the Ukrainian entity, allocation of rights to the token and code.
- Draft documents: contracts, terms of use, KYC/AML policies, a legal opinion on the token.
- Assemble a source-of-funds file for the bank or exchange and handle compliance correspondence.
- Support company registration, bank accounts and crypto acquiring set-up.
- Represent you in disputes: demand letters, lawsuits, reports to law enforcement.
What we need from you
- A description of the project or deal: what, with whom, in which country, what amounts.
- Existing documents: white paper, contracts, correspondence with the exchange or bank.
- Statements and transaction history if accounts, freezes or source of funds are involved.
- Company and beneficial owner details if the project is already registered.
How the work goes
- Task reviewA lawyer studies the model or situation, asks the questions you may have missed, and names the scope and cost.
- Legal mapWe identify the laws and requirements that apply: Ukraine, the EU, another jurisdiction, the bank’s or exchange’s rules.
- Structure and documentsWe draft contracts, policies, opinions and corporate documents and agree each one with you.
- Banks, exchanges, registrarsWe submit files, answer compliance requests and support registration.
- Support after launchWe update documents as the law changes and help with disputes and audits.
Timing depends on the task: an opinion or a contract is faster; a structure with a foreign company and a licence takes longer. A lawyer names a realistic schedule after the review.
What you receive
- A written legal position on your model or deal.
- A document set: contracts, terms of use, KYC/AML policies, corporate documents.
- A source-of-funds file for the bank or exchange.
- A registered company and bank accounts, where this is part of the task.
Send a short description of your situation — a lawyer will name the scope, timing and cost for your case.
Get a cost estimate →Where things usually go wrong
- Operating without paperwork: when the bank first asks for the source of funds, there is nothing to show.
- Launching a token without analysing its nature and holders’ rights, which leads to investor claims and regulator questions.
- Running an exchange or custody service in the EU while ignoring MiCA.
- USDT deals made without a contract and counterparty KYC, with a risk of fraud and account freezes.
- Starting a crypto debt dispute before securing evidence of messages and transactions.
Why to hand this to a team under contract. Crypto business sits where AML, tax, corporate and international law meet, and the rules keep changing. We keep the whole picture in view, ask the questions you may have missed, and take responsibility for the agreed work under a contract.
Legal status of crypto in Ukraine in 2026
The Law “On Virtual Assets” No. 2074-IX was adopted on 17.02.2022 but enters into force only together with Tax Code amendments on the taxation of virtual asset transactions. As of 28.09.2026 the official legislation portal shows its status as “not in force”.
At the same time, virtual asset service providers (exchange, transfer, custody) are already subjects of primary financial monitoring under Law No. 361-IX, and the law sets information requirements for virtual asset transfers.
Token listing legal support
Before listing, exchanges usually ask for documents on the issuer, a description of the token and holders’ rights, KYC/AML policies and a legal position on the token’s nature. We prepare this package and answer the exchange’s compliance questionnaire.
USDT deals and source of funds
Banks, as financial monitoring entities, establish the client’s source of funds and must refuse service if the client does not provide the documents needed for due diligence. A USDT deal should therefore be documented with a contract, counterparty KYC and a stored transaction history. We assemble such a file for the specific bank.
Crypto business in the EU: MiCA
EU Regulation 2023/1114 (MiCA) has fully applied since December 2024. The transitional period for firms that provided crypto-asset services under national law before 30.12.2024 lasted no longer than 1 July 2026; such services in the EU now require MiCA authorisation. For new EU projects we assess MiCA requirements at the structuring stage.

Bank transfer (Ukraine, the UK, Canada), card payment on the website, cryptocurrency, PayPal, Wise, Revolut, AdvCash.
