An invitation for a foreigner is one of the grounds for a short-stay visa to Ukraine. It is issued by the host: a company registered in Ukraine — on official letterhead with its registry number, or an individual — a Ukrainian citizen or a foreigner with a residence permit — before a notary. Visa timing depends on the consulate and the applicant’s nationality; standard processing is up to 10 working days, extendable to 30.

Where things usually go wrong

• A company invitation missing the registry number, registration number, purpose or period of the trip.
• A private invitation from an individual that was never notarised.
• The wrong visa type: applying for a short-stay visa to work or reside long-term.
• Insurance with cover below EUR 30,000, or missing proof of funds for the trip.

What a company invitation must contain

Ukraine’s visa rules require a company invitation on official letterhead with the Unified State Register number, a registration number, date and signature, the invitee’s details (name, date and place of birth, nationality, passport, residence), the purpose, the period of the visit and the number of entries.

Consular fee and processing time

The consular fee for B, C and D visas is USD 65 unless international agreements provide otherwise; urgent processing costs double. Urgent visas are issued within five working days.
